Software Development Engineer

Description:

CIVCO has developed and released several new software based products in the last three years. This is an area where the company wants to accelerate growth and we are looking for several new team members to lead the effort. CIVCO is looking for individuals with experience developing desktop and web enabled medical software products. If you have software development experience in any or all of the following areas, CIVCO would like to hear from you: DICOM & HL7 interfacing, web application development, GUI development and medical image processing work.

Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for translating clinical objectives into design specifications
• Evaluates feasibility of concepts and provides formal estimates for project timelines / budgets.
• Work with external contractor partners contributing on projects
• Follows established design, development, maintenance and repair methods/processes established by the department.
• Interfaces closely with Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Field Service, to ensure the accurate specification, implementation, release and support of all developed products.
• Develops prototypes as required
• Implements the design using commercial software development practices
• Tests products.
• Provides other assistance to support departmental functions, as required.
• Proposes ideas for new products, performance improvements and process improvements
• Perform complex software engineering functions, which require a high degree of technical competence (including medical imaging algorithm work)

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ Engineering from a four year college or university and a minimum of 5 -10 years of applicable work experience. Work experience in a medical software development environment with demonstrated experience delivering commercial PC desktop and/or web enabled software products is required. Experience developing software products in a radiation oncology workflow environment would be considered a plus. Specialized skill sets are required for our openings are listed below:

• Experience working in a Microsoft C, C++, C# .net development environment*
• Experience developing software products using commercial software development practices (version control, defect tracking, product schedules, coding styles, structured design documentation, etc)*
• Knowledgeable and experienced in an FDA development environment*
• Experience working on mid size development projects that may include 5 to 10 team members and/or outsource partners*
• Experience developing web applications (Java, Javascript, ASP.net)
• Experience developing windows forms applications
• Experience developing applications that communicate with SQL databases
• Extensive experience developing HL7 interfaces
• GUI development experience
• Experience developing with OpenGL and/or DirectX
• Experience developing and testing medical imaging algorithms
