We are seeking a Senior Design Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development and continuation support of ice machine, ice storage and ice related products and accessories. The successful candidate will be responsible to create CAD models, layouts, assemblies, drawings, maintain engineering documentation. Must be able to provide leadership to cross functional teams to ensure integration of form, function and manufacturability of products to meet customer or business needs. This position has the opportunity to mentor peers and team members. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Duties:

• Designs and engineers products, in a team effort with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, service, marketing and finance to meet or exceed customer expectations for features, performance, quality, reliability and cost.
• Leads failure analysis efforts to identify root cause, established contingency plans to support short-term production, quality and customer requirements and works with other functional groups to define, develop and implement corrective action in a timely manner.
• Creates electronic CAD models, layouts, assemblies and drawings.
• Prepares and processes engineering change documentation.
• Manages projects that either improve or modify a product to meet a specific customer or business need. Develops schedules, cost estimates and provides regular project updates to management.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for product, process and operational improvements within the Engineering Group.
• Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering during pre-production builds to minimize cost, improve DFM and improve total product quality.

Qualifications:

Education:
BS Engineering or related scientific degree with an emphasis in mechanical engineering, mechanical design

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS-PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS Engineering or related scientific degree with an emphasis in mechanical engineering, mechanical design
• 15 years minimum experience in designing Mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies with proven ability to take a design from concept through production
• 10 or more years experience with CAD
• Ability to lead a cross functional team in the development of new products, lead the team thru a phase-gate system, and develop and maintain the program Gantt chart
• Strong product development experience, including design, prototype, test, product launch and continuation support.
• Strong understanding and experience in product life cycle management utilizing an automated change management system.
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes (i.e. sheet metal, injection molding, blow molding, stamping, forming, etc.)
• In depth knowledge of mechanism design, life testing and production support, including assembly fixturing and gauging.
• Ability to work within detailed procedures but able to make decisions based on organizational policy and/or precedent.
• Skilled at following daily set priorities; however expected to evaluate and respond to new situations requiring immediate attention.
• Knowledge of inspection equipment and processes including, surface plates, height stands, optical comparators, CMM, etc.
• Experience working with Quality and Materials functions to improve supplier part quality and process capability.
• Understanding of regulatory agency requirements, including UL, CE, TUV, NSF, etc.
• Working knowledge of MS Office software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Helpful, but not required):
• 10 or more years experience with Solid Works
• Successfully mentored peers and team members
