Description:

VICTIM ADVOCATE (VOLUNTEER- NON PAID POSITION)

Duties:

Provide on-call services for the Adams County Sheriff's Office for a minimum of four shifts per month for a minimum of one-year to respond to the scene of a crime, police station, or other designated areas. Serve as an informed source of support to the victim during the immediate crisis. Work closely with various community organizations and services. Referrals are made on the basis of specific needs. Attend each monthly meeting.

Qualifications:

*Minimum age of 21 years.
*High School Diploma or GED.
*Valid Colorado driver’s license.

Possess sensitivity and good communication skills in working with crime victims. Ability to work well with members of the community, specifically law enforcement officers and hospital personnel. Successfully complete the initial 40-hour training session. Reliable transportation and good driving history. Successfully complete a background investigation. Provide own motor vehicle insurance. Successfully pass a psychological evaluation.
